SAIC MOTOR CORPORATION, the parent company of MG, is preparing to mark a major milestone as the first Chinese automaker to approach 100 million cumulative vehicle deliveries and users worldwide.
The momentum comes from 1.302 million cumulative sales in the first four months of 2026, keeping SAIC MOTOR at the top of the Chinese market for four consecutive months. MG, as the group’s global brand, continues to perform strongly in Europe and ASEAN, with Thailand showing 76% registration growth in the same period.

SAIC MOTOR and MG sales in April 2026
SAIC MOTOR’s group brands sold more than 1.302 million vehicles in the first four months of 2026. In April alone, total sales reached 328,000 units. Core brands including MG, Roewe, IM, Maxus and Wuling combined for 910,000 units, up 6.9%, accounting for 69.9% of total volume.
In Europe, MG sold more than 120,000 vehicles in the first four months of 2026, maintaining its position as the highest-selling Chinese automotive brand in the region.
In Thailand, MG registered 10,953 vehicles during the first four months of 2026, up 76% year on year. EV models were the main growth drivers, including NEW MG4 ELECTRIC, NEW MG S5 EV PLUS, MG IM6, MG IM5 and e-MPV models such as NEW MG MAXUS 7 and NEW MG MAXUS 9.

Technology-Driven Growth and GLOCAL strategy
SAIC MOTOR’s 100-million-unit milestone is supported by a Technology-Driven Growth strategy. The company continues to develop its own core technologies through R&D centers in countries including China, Germany, the United States and Brazil.
Key technologies include the Hybrid+ powertrain system and the Stellar Super Range Extender, both of which are being prepared for new products as the company looks beyond price-war competition.
In Thailand, MG is using a GLOCAL strategy that combines global technology with a deeper understanding of Thai customers under the IN THAILAND FOR THAILAND value. The brand aims to enter the Thai market’s Top 5 in its second decade.
Thai EV portfolio and NEW MG URBAN
MG is preparing to expand its Thai product lineup further, with NEW MG URBAN, a new fully electric hatchback, expected to enter the market soon and strengthen the brand’s compact EV offering.
The brand is also using EV LIFETIME WARRANTY as a key showroom advantage, covering the high-voltage battery, drive motor and motor control unit for the vehicle lifetime, without mileage or ownership-transfer limits.

Bangkok Motorhaus Perspective
SAIC MOTOR’s 100-million-unit milestone and MG Thailand’s 76% growth in the first four months show that the group is not simply relying on price cuts. It is competing systematically through technology, product coverage and a consistent GLOCAL strategy.
MG’s 120,000-plus sales in Europe over the first four months are especially important because Europe has strict product and regulatory expectations. That global success story helps MG build long-term confidence in Thailand and move beyond older perceptions of Chinese vehicles.
MG’s Thai EV portfolio is now broad, covering NEW MG4 ELECTRIC, NEW MG S5 EV PLUS, the IM models and e-MPVs such as MAXUS 7 and MAXUS 9. EV LIFETIME WARRANTY directly addresses EV ownership anxiety. The next product to watch is NEW MG URBAN. If MG prices it sharply and delivers the promised technology, the brand’s Top 5 ambition under IN THAILAND FOR THAILAND becomes increasingly credible.
